Cyat, a young tuxedo cat who has fallen on hard times in the city of Catropolis, comes across an abandoned catnip factory and decides to pave their own way to success, regardless of whether or not their way is entirely legal… 

Cyatnip Dealer is a 2D Open-World Sandbox game about finding home and community in a world ravaged by oppression and ruled by an evil dog regime, with inspirations coming from games such as Kindergarten, Papers Please, and Stardew Valley. Throughout the game, the player will explore the world as the main character, ‘Cyat’, a young tuxedo cat who has fallen on hard times in the city of Catropolis, after the dogs took over. Help Cyat navigate Catropolis and save up to finally buy a home.

The player will interact with characters that will either send them on quests, buy catnip from them, help them upgrade their home, or punish them for their illegal way of finding work. Over the course of the game, Cyat will have a multitude of opportunities to expand their service area, meaning they will gain new customers and allies, and have the chance to build themselves a place they can feel safe to call home in the scary unknowns of the new world.

We created this game for our 2123 Writing for Games & Interactive Media II. It was a very educational and entertaining experience. We learned to collaborate as a team and work on our own individual skills.
